Hey all, I don't have any updates on the game to share, and I probably won't for the next few months, so to give you guys something to chew on in the meantime, I thought I'd take the opportunity to gush over the fantastic cover art that I commissioned from none other than my good friend, Eric!
You've likely seen this art many times around here, you can't throw a bola without hitting it. I have used it liberally on this site and for promoting the game in general. But how did it come to be?
As the one-man-band of Sonic TTH, I've handled all of the graphic design for the project, including the character design and portraits for each of the premade characters, myself. I could have whipped something up for the cover on my own, but I wanted to really elevate the image of the product beyond what I could achieve with my own style. Nevertheless, I made a mockup of the image I wanted as a rough thumbnail:
I approached Eric with my mockup and asked if he would be able to make this, but 3D and pretty and stuff, and he graciously accepted the commission request! What followed was several weeks of back and forth with multiple iterations to really dial in that "Sonic" feel. Below are some of my favorites from those iterations.
As if this wasn't cool enough, he added these little details in the reflections of the eyes:
TL;DR Eric knocked it out of the Zone.
As of the time of this writing, Eric is no longer accepting commissions, he's a busy man. But I'm sure he will appreciate nice comments about his work ;)
